Sustainability

The natural world is very important to us and we endeavour to work as eco-friendly as possible

Design Process

We try to keep all aspects of our process as sustainable as we can. This includes using sustainably sourced stationary and studio supplies such as eco recycled papers, stickers, business cards, and envelopes

We also try to limit the amount of paint and pigment wastage when designing. We use environmentally friendly paint thinners and paint brush cleaners.

We use low energy lights in our studio and are mindful of not running machinery when not in use.

Sampling our designs in bulk, rather than as and when, can help reduce the amount of fabric shipping to us from our printers and suppliers.

Our products are designed and made in the UK. Our products are mainly made by local or UK based companies to help reduce the carbon footprint and support small businesses.

Fabric Bases

Our Linens use the raw material Flax which is one of the most sustainable materials in the world. Far fewer pesticides and fertilisers are used with flax crops. The fibres are separated from the stem during a natural process. All parts of the flax plant are used, for example the linseed is used for the next flax season.

Our mill that produce our fabric aim for a ‘no waste policy’. The waste selvedge and shearing dust are recycled into insulation materials and paper.

Our bases come from suppliers that have been certified carbon neutral.

Flax is fully biodegradable after use. A linen fabric will fully degrade after 6.5 months.

All of our fabrics are OEKO-TEX certified.

We recycle our fabric scraps or donate them to schools, local artists and art organisations.

We encourage customers to return samples if they are not needed anymore.

As we are print–to-order, we stock no excess of fabric and so limiting the amount of fabric wastage.

 Printing Process

We print digitally so there are no screens to manufacture.

Unlike dyeing, printing directly onto fabric means less wasted surplus ink.

The inks we use are certificated as Azo dye free, OEKO-TEX certified and are to European REACH standards.

The inks are water based and so less harmful to the environment.

The disposal of waste water is treated through approved channels as effluent friendly as possible.

Our printers ensure that any surplus inks/waste products are disposed of by specialists

Delivery and Transportation

Our fabric roll packaging and wrapping are made from 30% recycled materials. The rest of our packaging is either completely recyclable and biodegradable or from an eco conscious source.

We are always researching ways to eventually make all of our wrapping fully eco friendly.

We ship straight to customers from our printing mill which helps reduce the amount of travel time.
